The Upper Sangamon watershed is located in McLean, Champaign, Dewitt, Ford, Piatt, Macon, Christian, and Sangamon Counties. It is approximately 912,662 acres.
Today the watershed currently faces problems related to water quality involving nutrients, pesticides, and suspended solids attributed to sources from agriculture and shoreline erosion.
